A Brief History
The American Women’s Association of Qatar (AWA) is a non-profit organization formed in 1979. The Association consists of a group of women who meet monthly to share experiences, to make new acquaintances, to provide a resource for those new to Qatar and to learn more about the culture of our host country. Throughout the year, AWA hosts a number of activities to accomplish the above goals.
The Association has monthly meetings with speakers covering a wide range of topics from local crafts to investment opportunities, Coffee Mornings to provide a venue to make new friends, and field trips to points of interest to learn more about Qatar.
Additionally, the Association sponsors activities to raise funds for local charities. Each year AWA hosts a Holiday Bazaar which provides a venue for many local artists and vendors to showcase their merchandise in a convenient location for Holiday shoppers. It is our hope and goal that we are active, contributing members of this wonderful international community and we invite you to join us.
